Occurs throughout New Zealand, maybe most abundant in the south (Ref. 89423). Recorded from bottom trawls off the east coast of South Island (Ref. 58461). Recorded as scarce in the Northeastern and Eastern Chatham Rise (Ref. 87166). Occasionally taken in commercial quantities. Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ. Also Ref. 45493, 89422, 89423.
